Probably starting a new job soon and I need a DD. Commute will be roughly 60 miles each way.

I want something relatively new (2012 and newer) sh ould be a station wagon or hatchback. Good on fuel and comfortable for many highways miles.

Budget 15k$ but I’d rather only spend 10k$.

What would you suggest?

TSX Wagon would be a decent option.

That of course is a contestant. Sadly most of the ones in my budget are the 1.5 petrol with 100bh (witch is a bit low i think) or they have 90k miles already. But yeah if a nice one pops up I will certainly have a look at it!

Dou you have experience with it?

There is one available with my criteria. but it does have 70k miles. The 2.2 Diesel with an automatic. Do you think this will cause any problems?

Toyota Avalon.

Plenty available 20 12+ for <$15k. Big, comfy cruiser. Should do at least 30 mpg highway. Low maintenance requirements & generally reliable.

Diesel TSX? What country are you in?

You can maaaaayyybe squeak out a 2015 V60 for that. Definitely can find a V40, but it’ll be on the older side of things. Likewise you can get a 2015+ Golf wagon, maybe even diesel.

Edit: wait, what country are you in?

Posting your location (country, metro area, or something) would also be beneficial - maintenance difficulties depend on area, and while your provided budget seems to suggest USD , your post history seems to suggest Europe.

Switzerland. There is a 2015 v60 for under 10k but with 170k miles so thats a no. Anything reasonable is 15k or more.

There are a few  Golf wagons that look okay within budget. So thanks for this.

That does change things up a bit. I had a friend who used to have a TSX wagon, albeit petrol, don’t think he had any issues with it. His parents now own it.

They’re called Honda Accord here but i think is mostly the same. I will have to go and look at one just to see if I feel comfortable in it. And being a Honda I don’t see too much going wrong.

When I just put my require ments into the search thing there’s mostly Audi A4s (which I don’t trust to take too many miles) BMW 3series (which I think could get expensive quickly just with small repairs and maintenance given the amount of miles I will put on it ) some C itroens and P eugeots (which I know are not too comfortable on the Autobahn).

And then there’s stuff I just don’t know too much about. Like Opel Astra wagons/hatchbacks, some Alfas and so on.

I think i’ll go for something J apanese or K orean as they are reliable and I can a newer car with lower miles compared to anything european.

And then later trade up to something german with a warranty.

Thanks mate!

I don’t think there’s much point now as not many people will read this. I’ll problably post again once i’ve tested a few things and narrowed it down a bit.
